VIRGINIA, MN (CBS-3) – Virginia Police have arrested a 40 year old man suspected of stabbing a woman to death Wednesday morning.
According to police, St. Louis County dispatchers got a call from a man at 2:19 a.m., saying he had stabbed someone in his apartment and they might be dead.
Authorities responded to the apartment, located at 104 5th Street South in Virginia, where they found a woman with with multiple stab wounds to her head and neck.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, who authorities identified as Derek Edward Malevich, left the scene before police arrived and was located later in the morning.
Police have not identified the victim and have not said what led up to the stabbing or if the victim and the suspect knew each other.
