DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A winter weather system with heavy snow in some areas and mixed precipitation in others will hit much of northeastern Minnesota.
The National Weather Service Office in Duluth has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow in northern St. Louis County and all of Cook and Lake Counties from late Monday into Wednesday morning.
South St. Louis and Carlton County have a Winter Weather Advisory for some snow and ice accumulations.
The areas under the warning could see 7 to 11 inches of snow with locally higher amounts up to 15 inches possible.
Snow totals of 2 to 4 inches and up to a tenth of an inch of ice is possible in Duluth and other areas under the Winter Advisory.
As details of the storm become more clear, the advisory could be upgraded if snow predictions increase.
Roads throughout the region will become slippery with the heavy, wet snow and ice.
