MADISON, WI (KDAL) – The 5th elk hunt in Wisconsin history is planned for this fall with applications being taken through May 31st.
After being eliminated from Wisconsin in the 1880’s, elk were re-introduced to the northern part of the state in 2015.
The Clam Lake herd has grown to 330 and the elk hunt will be held from October 15 to November 13th and from December 8th through the 16th.
There will be a drawing from all applicants with winners notified by mid June.
The application fee is 10 dollars with licenses costing 49 dollars.
Before obtaining the license, all winners must participate in an elk hunting orientation that covers regulations, scouting and hunting techniques.
