SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – First responders were called to the Fraser Shipyards in Superior just before noon on Monday after a worker fell from a ship that was in dry dock.
Superior Police say the 64 year old man from Watertown, Wisconsin had fallen about 50 feet and, despite life saving efforts, was pronounced dead at the scene.
While the incident remains under investigation, police say it appears to have been nothing but a tragic accident.
The name of the victim has not yet been released by authorities while family is notified.
Additional information from Superior Police on 12/8/22: The victim was identified as Randall Charles Mulvaney.
It appears that Mulvaney was working to secure a tarp on the deck of the ship when he fell off through a section where a railing was not present.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is conducting an investigation into the incident.
