DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – Two new 40 foot electric buses have been added to the Duluth Transit Authority (DTA) fleet.
The Gillig buses are certified for service on steep grades and reflect the progress made since the DTA began using battery electric buses in 2018.
The DTA now has 8 electric buses in addition to the 70 diesel powered units.
The DTA says the newly added buses are quiet, efficient and capable and will rotate on routes between several neighborhoods and corridors.
The new buses are equipped with custom graphics including a power plug design to distinguish them from the traditional fleet.
The Gillig buses can run for over 16 hours before re-charging.
