DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Minnesota Department of Health has issued Water Contact Not Recommended Advisories for five Lake Superior beaches.
The advisories were posted on Tuesday at Burlington Bay Beach in Two Harbors, Flood Bay Beach, Sugarloaf Beach and the Grand Marais Campground Beach all on the North Shore.
In Duluth, the Minnesota Point-15th Street Beach on the Harbor Side of Park Point was also included on the list.
The advisories were issued due to elevated levels of E. coli bacteria which indicates the possible presence of fecal contamination.
The beaches are re-sampled on a regular basis and updated information can be found online at mnbeaches.org.
