Medallion Hunt History
The Midwest Communications Medallion Hunt has been running since 2009. Check out our timeline of past medallion locations below!
2023
The 2023 Medallion was hidden at Washington Square Park on 43rd Ave and Superior Street in Duluth. Julie Johnson of Duluth located the medallion in an open area between a small apple orchard and some bottom trimmed pine trees at the park.
2022
The 2022 Medallion was hidden at Keene Creek Park in Hermantown – about 10 feet off a crossroads of the trails in the park – southwest of the main parking lot. The medallion was located under some light snow about 15 feet from a one way sign indicating the direction cross country skiers should go.
2021
The 2021 Medallion was hidden on the Bear Creek Trail northwest of Wisconsin Point Rd and about 25 feet north of a walking bridge. The 2021 contest was canceled prematurely with no winner after alleged rule violations by some hunters.
2020
The Winterfest 2020 Medallion was hidden just east of the back gate of Sky Harbor Airport on Park Point in Duluth
2019
The Winterfest 2019 Medallion was hidden in the recreational area next to Terry Egerdahl Memorial Field in Proctor.
2018
The Winterfest 2018 medallion was hidden in an open area at Central Park in Superior.
2017
There was no Medallion Hunt due to a radio station ownership transition.
2016
The Winterfest 2016 medallion was hidden near Spirit Mountain off the DWP Trail in Duluth’s Norton Park neighborhood.
2015
The Winterfest 2015 medallion was hidden just off the Millennium Trail in the Superior Municipal Forest.
2014
The Winterfest 2014 medallion was hidden in Amity Park near the seventh bridge off Seven Bridges Road in Duluth.
2013
The Winterfest 2013 medallion was hidden at Keenes Creek Park in Hermantown.
2012
The Winterfest 2012 medallion was hidden near a trail at Hartley Nature Center in Duluth.
2011
The Winterfest 2011 medallion was hidden at Billings Park in Superior near the public boat landing.
2010
The Winterfest 2010 medallion was hidden at Enger Park in Duluth near the Peace Bell.
2009
The Winterfest 2009 medallion was hidden at Lief Erikson Park in Duluth.
