ELY, MN (KDAL) – An adult male with a severe leg injury was rescued from the BWCA Friday night by helicopter.
Ely area first responders and law enforcement were dispatched to the Angle Worm Trail in the BWCA on reports of someone needing a rescue.
The Minnesota Air Rescue Team (MART) was called to the scene and was able to hoist the victim to safety and transport him to a waiting ambulance.
The victim, who had sustained the leg injury by using a machete, was taken to the Ely hospital with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
