DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is alerting residents about new scam calls in the area.
The scammers appear to be targeting family members of people who are in custody at the County Jail.
The callers will ask for money in exchange for the person in custody to get an ankle monitor and be released from jail.
The calls are not legitimate and the Sheriff’s Office reminds the public that they do not call community members asking for payments, bail or other services.
If you get such a call, do not provide any cash, credit cards, gift cards or financial information.
Those who receive a scam call and want to file a police report, call 911.
