SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – To make it easier for patients to access medical services in Superior during the upcoming closure of the Blatnik Bridge, Essentia Health has announced expanded services and facilities.
That will include a 14.5 million dollar investment in the Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital-Superior, expanded clinician coverage, surgical capacity and a Superior based ambulance service.
Essentia officials say by bolstering primary, specialty and surgical services in Superior, many northwest Wisconsin patients can continue to receive timely care without the rerouting and traffic disruptions in getting to Duluth.
Over the last several months, Essentia has expanded audiology, neurology, oncology, orthopedics and family medicine services in Superior. Essentia also plans to enhance pediatrics, cardiology, ophthalmology and gastroenterology services in the coming months.
The Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital-Superior will increase surgical capacity by adding two general surgeons to the staff this fall and investing in advanced surgical technology.
