Oct 30 (Field Level Media) – Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure on his right knee Thursday, the team announced.
Edwards, 25, is expected to make a full recovery, though the team did not provide a timetable for his return. Earlier reports indicated he could miss up to two months.
Edwards last played Monday, scoring 47 points in more than 41 minutes during a 127-125 overtime loss at Cleveland. Reports surfaced Tuesday that Edwards might need surgery, and Timberwolves president of basketball operations Tim Connelly confirmed Wednesday that the star guard would undergo a procedure he described as a “cleanup.”
Without Edwards, the Timberwolves lost 119-114 to the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday night and fell to 3-2.
In four games this season, Edwards is averaging 33.3 points on 48.1% shooting, 4.8 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
Over seven seasons with the Wolves, Edwards has averaged 24.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 446 games.
