Aug 29 (Field Level Media) – Tyler Huntley threw for a first-quarter touchdown to open the scoring, Joe Fagnano threw a TD pass and added a scoring run and the host Baltimore Ravens completed an unbeaten preseason by thrashing the Washington Commanders 41-3 on Friday night.
Huntley’s 25-yard touchdown pass to Chris Moore highlighted a 4-for-4 passing performance for 61 yards. Fagnano scored on a 1-yard run later in the opening quarter to give Baltimore a 14-0 advantage.
Tyler Loop booted a 51-yard field goal in the second quarter before Fagnano connected with LaJohntay Wester for a 10-yard touchdown.
Jonathan Ward added a 2-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and finished with 53 yards on seven carries for Baltimore.
Washington got its only points on Drew Stevens’ 39-yard field goal before Loop answered with a 24-yarder to make it 34-3.
Falcons 17, Dolphins 12
In the final preseason tuneup before the team officially names a Week 1 quarterback starter, Tua Tagovailoa threw for 95 yards and lost a fumble for the visiting Falcons (2-1) in a 17-12 victory over Miami (0-3).
Tagovailoa, who appears to be the likely starter with Michael Penix Jr. unable to appear in the preseason after suffering a partially torn ACL last November, completed 7 of 8 passes against his former team before being lifted for Cooper Rush.
Tagovailoa hit Kyle Pitts Sr. for a 37-yard pass to highlight an opening drive that was stamped with Brian Robinson’s 3-yard touchdown rush. Atlanta’s second drive lasted one play as Tagovailoa lost a fumble on a botched snap.
Miami’s Cam Miller completed 7 of 16 passes for 71 yards and Mark Gronowski had 97 passing yards in relief. Former Falcon Riley Patterson’s four field goals accounted for the entirety of the Dolphins’ scoring.
Panthers 16, Texans 13
In a game that saw both teams rest their starters, Miles Davis rushed for a touchdown and Ryan Fitzgerald made all three of his field goal attempts to lift Carolina to a victory over visiting Houston.
Houston (0-3) committed three of its four turnovers in the first half. Backup quarterback Davis Mills was picked off by second-year safety Lathan Ransom, while journeyman Brett Rypien threw a touchdown, but lost a fumble and was intercepted by Cam Miller. Rypien got the majority of the run under center. He completed 13 of 23 passes for 101 yards and threw a 6-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to Zay Jones.
Kyle Trask (19-for-28, 147 yards and an interception) and Kenny Pickett (5-for-8, 48 yards) split time at quarterback for Carolina (3-1). Pickett is considered to be the likely second-stringer to Bryce Young when the regular season begins.
Giants 23, Jets 6
Jake Haener threw for a touchdown, Tyrone Tracy added another on the ground and the Giants stifled the Jets en route to an easy victory in each team’s preseason finale.
After stints by Jameis Winston (4-for-9, 54 yards and an interception) and Brandon Allen (8-for-12, 78 yards), Haener went 6-for-7 and found Xavier Gipson on a 37-yard touchdown.
In one final audition for the role of Geno Smith’s backup, none of the three Jets quarterbacks were overly impressive on Friday. Rookie Cade Klubnik threw for 59 yards and was picked off by Zaire Barnes, while Brady Cook threw for 26 yards and Bailey Zappe went 2-for-5 for 12 yards.
Damon Bankston led all rushers with 62 yards for the Giants (2-1), while Chip Trayanum, who left with a neck injury, had 38 yards on the ground and a touchdown for the Jets (1-2).
Jaguars 19, Buccaneers 0
Bryan Thomas Jr., T.J. Bollers and Amari Burney combined for five sacks as host Jacksonville harassed Tampa Bay in a shutout victory.
Thomas racked up 2.5 sacks to go along with four quarterback hits and five tackles for the Jaguars (2-1). Carter Bradley had 77 passing yards and a touchdown toss to DeeJay Dallas. Michael Wortham scored on a 63-yard punt return, and Cam Little added a 61-yard field goal.
The Buccaneers (2-1) gave a surprise start to rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels, but he found little success, surrendering a fumble and finishing 8 of 15 for 57 yards. Tampa Bay managed just 87 total yards and six first downs.
Saints 27, Cowboys 24
Three New Orleans players scored rushing touchdowns and Daniel Carlson prevented a collapse with a 53-yard field goal as the Saints held off Dallas in Arlington, Texas.
The Cowboys (2-1) rallied with 15 fourth-quarter points to tie the game at 24-all. Sam Howell directed the effort, completing 12 of 18 passes for 155 yards with two touchdowns. Jordan Hudson was his favorite target, notching four catches for 97 yards with a TD.
Saints quarterback Zach Wilson directed an eight-play, 44-yard drive in response, resulting in Carlson’s game-winner with 1:55 to play.
Quarterback Spencer Rattler, wide receiver Barion Brown and running back Zamir White had the touchdowns for New Orleans (1-2).
Packers 42, Cardinals 38
In a high-scoring preseason affair, host Green Bay got four touchdown passes from Kyle McCord, including two in the final four minutes, to nip Arizona and finish 2-1 in the preseason.
McCord, a second-year player out of Syracuse, completed 22 of 35 passes for 226 yards and no interceptions. He connected with Kisean Johnson on a 28-yard scoring play with 3:19 left before directing a 44-yard scoring drive in the closing seconds. He and Johnson connected again from 10 yards out with 20 seconds left.
The Cardinals (1-3) got touchdown passes from Kedon Slovis and Gardner Minshew. Evan Hull rumbled for 107 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries, while Simi Fehoko produced 94 yards and two touchdowns on five catches. Rivaldo Fairweather made eight receptions for 89 yards.
Chiefs 9, Seahawks 9
An inauspicious preseason for two winless teams ended in a tie, as Seattle (0-2-1) missed a field-goal attempt at the gun to finish in a deadlock with host Kansas City.
Jason Myers’ 52-yard try with three seconds left missed wide right. Myers converted from 46 yards earlier in the contest but missed an extra-point kick. Second-year quarterback Jalen Milroe accounted for the Seahawks’ other score, a third-quarter touchdown pass to Nick Vannett.
The Chiefs (0-2-1) could manage only three short Harrison Butker field goals, though he also missed a third-quarter try from 58 yards. Brashard Smith ran for 72 yards on 16 carries.
Bengals 30, Eagles 13
Visiting Cincinnati used two fourth-quarter touchdowns to finish off Philadelphia and wrap up a perfect preseason.
Kentrel Bullock capped an 11-play, 77-yard drive with a 6-yard rushing score to give the Bengals (3-0) breathing room in the fourth, 23-13. Jamal Haynes followed with a 39-yard scoring scamper a little over a minute later.
Josh Johnson directed the Bengals’ offense with 156 yards through the air.
Andy Dalton threw for 104 yards and a touchdown against his former team as he attempts to secure a roster spot with the Eagles (0-3). Running back Carson Steele had a touchdown catch among his eight receptions for 52 yards, and he added 24 yards on eight carries.
Broncos 34, Vikings 6
Sam Ehlinger made the most of his preseason finale as he led Denver to a lopsided win over visiting Minnesota.
Ehlinger completed 15 of 20 passes for 233 yards, three touchdowns and one interception for Denver (2-1). Running back Cody Schrader amassed 132 total yards (90 rushing, 42 receiving) and a touchdown.
Max Brosmer completed 20 of 35 passes for 165 yards for Minnesota (1-2). Jermar Jefferson led the team with 59 rushing yards on six carries, and Dontae Fleming had a team-high 55 receiving yards on four catches.
Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. left the game in the first quarter because of a foot injury.
Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy did not play because of an ankle injury that he sustained a week ago against the Baltimore Ravens. McCarthy is competing for the backup role with veteran Carson Wentz, who completed 3 of 4 passes for 15 yards before giving way to Brosmer.
