DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – On the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9-11, firefighters from the Duluth Fire Department, the Air National Guard, Lake Superior College fire students and other local fire departments will participate in a stair climb Friday morning at the AMSOIL Arena.
The local firefighters are paying tribute to New York firefighters by climbing the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.
They are paying tribute to the 343 firefighters and other service providers who lost their lives while saving others at ground zero on September 11th of 2001.
Participating firefighters Friday will be fully dressed in turn-out gear with air packs while they complete the 2,200 step climb.
The climb begins following a moment of silence at 8:46 a-m, the time that Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower 25 years ago.
