SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) – Beginning on August 2nd, Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College (WITC) will become Northwood Technical College, or Northwood Tech.
The new name was selected following a process from the Board of Trustees that included a task force and student focus groups that narrowed the selection of possible names.
Students and staff then voted for the winning name from five options.
The logo design for Northwood Technical College was based on market research and student focus groups.
The college is also introducing a mascot named “Blaze the Bear” also chosen from several options on a vote by students.
The soon to be Northwood Tech has multiple campuses in northwest Wisconsin including Superior.
